Your fingers laced in mine as I rubbed my legs against your feet
I'd lean in for a kiss only to find you sound asleep

Probably dreaming up visions of us skinny dipping at the beach
Or stargazing in the park while sharing a drink and some weed
Or perhaps something mundane like watching movies on TV
And while I dreamt of you, I'd hoped you were dreaming of me

But in this life, things rarely go as you would hope
When the two roads diverged, we went separately to roam
And though we ventured off with plenty of room left to grow
I find myself wondering, “Where did the time go?”

If only there was a way to go back to the way that things were
When neither one of us was lost in the ways of the world
Back to a simpler time, when I was the moon and you were my Earth
And instead of the last chapter, we'd go back to the first

I love the way my name sounds coming off the tip of your tongue
